Book an Appointment
WELCOME!
Thank you so much for your interest in getting a tattoo from me. I look forward to hearing about your idea(s) and will get back to you as soon as possible. Before we begin, please read all of the following information carefully. Feel free to screen shot this information in case you need to refer back to it at a later date/time.
PLEASE NOTE:
I ask you to allow up to a week and a half for a response before reaching out again. I will do my best to reply as quickly as possible, but keep in mind this is a small scale operation, so depending on work, family life and travel, response times may vary.
I do not duplicate or copy others’ designs. All of my work is original unless otherwise specified (ie: traditional Americana ‘flash’ designs or traditional Japanese motifs). If you are picking out a piece from my available designs book, original designs will be noted as such and will be tattooed only once.
The focus of my work is mostly dedicated to my personal interests in the exploration of the natural world and symbolism, as well as the combination and relationships between them. Pieces containing animals (both real and mythical), flora, fauna, and symbolic objects based in tradition, along with larger scale works and designs from my books will be prioritized.
Remember this is an application. I do my very best to accommodate as many people as I can, but should your project be outside of my particular capabilities, interests or spectrum of comfort, I reserve the right to decline. If this is the case, please keep in mind it is nothing to be taken personally, and I will do everything I can to point you in the direction of an artist or studio that will be better suited to your needs. My ultimate goal here is to provide you with the best experience and work possible as I continue to hone my particular aesthetic for the vision of my tattoo art, and that both you and I are comfortable, confident, and excited about the design.
RATES:
Pieces start at $200. Single session, or “one shot” pieces will be priced according to size, detail, and placement on the body and will be determined and agreed upon before the work is done. Larger scale or multiple session pieces are $250/hour.
I require a $200 deposit for all tattoos. For larger scale or highly customized work such as a full sleeve or back piece I may require a $500 deposit. These deposits secure your appointment in my calendar, and are non refundable in order to protect my time and effort creating your design and incorporating you into my schedule. This deposit goes towards the final cost of your tattoo and comes off at the last session or once the work has been completed. If you have SPECIFIC DAYS AND TIME WHEN YOU CAN ONLY GET TATTOOED (because of travel/work/etc) it is best that we figure out when you can get an appointment FIRST, before putting down a deposit to make sure our schedules will align properly. Please DO NOT send a deposit until I have gotten back to you and we have confirmed a date and time. Once confirmed, please send within 24 hours. Deposits can be sent via Venmo (@dean-fleischmann) or Paypal (deanflashmantattoos@gmail.com). Appointments are made on a first come first serve basis by order of deposits, so please LET ME KNOW as soon as you make your transaction! This way I can be sure to book your preferred day and time as soon as possible.
When sending a deposit please DO NOT use the words “TATTOO” or “DEPOSIT” anywhere in the comments. Feel free to have fun and send a quick description of your design, or your favorite emoji expression 😽
IF USING PAYPAL PLEASE send under the category as “friends and family” NOT as “product or service”. The percentage tax that Paypal takes may seem small per transaction, but adds up to hundreds of dollars lost over time for me.
When coming in for your tattoo appointment, I take both CASH or CARD at the end of every session. Please keep in mind that CASH IS PREFERRED, so please come prepared beforehand. It is also the quickest and easiest was to pay. I can’t tell you how many times people get their cards declined or have to spend time on the phone with their banks which results in time and energy lost, as well as unnecessary awkwardness (“I swear I have money in that account!”). Also, please note that there is a small FEE FOR CARD PURCHASES of 4% per transaction. I am a small independently owned and operated business, and that is the cost of convenience for me to do a credit card transaction for you. If you are getting larger work or doing multiple sessions, please consider using cash instead of card, because although these fees may seem small in the moment, they also add up quickly over time and could be better spent being put TOWARDS YOUR TATTOO AND YOUR ARTIST rather than credit card processing fees for large corporations.
RESCHEDULING/CANCELLATION:
First and foremost, I understand that life happens to all of us everyday, and non of us can predict the future. Should you need to reschedule with me, I require a MINIMUM of 48 hours notice prior to our appointment. This way I will honor your deposit and have it applied to our rescheduled date. Deposits are valid for 6 months once paid, so regardless of your reason for rescheduling, it is your responsibility to follow through with an appointment before that time has passed.
If you are more than 30 minutes late to your appointment without communicating to me the situation at the time of or prior, OR if you show up to your appointment with major design changes or wish to change your design entirely, I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO FORFEIT YOUR DEPOSIT.
In the event of an attempted cancellation/reschedule within the 48 hour window before an appointment, your deposit will be forfeited and a new deposit will be required in order to reschedule a new appointment. This is in order to protect the time set aside in my schedule for your tattoo session, however it does not cover the time spent preparing your design. Keep in mind that even with 48 hours or more notice for a cancellation it almost always results in time, work, and money lost on my end.
DESIGN:
For large scale or custom work I almost ALWAYS recommend scheduling consultation if you can before making an appointment. They are quick, free, and that way we can talk face to face and make sure we are both on the same page about your ideas involving size, placement on the body, and details required for your design. Sometimes I will take a tracing and/or photos of the area to be tattooed, and sometimes I will even draw on the skin or make a rough sketch of your design on the spot. Afterwards I can give you an accurate quote on price for the work (hard to do over messaging), describe my personal process for creation as well as shop procedure and expectations, and we can move forward with securing an appointment with a deposit after looking at each others’ schedules.
I do NOT send designs or sketches for any piece prior to our appointment unless otherwise specified during our consultation. For highly customized or large scale work it is common to schedule an in person “drawing check” 48 hours prior to our appointment to make sure the design fits properly and is to your specifications.
I draw for my appointments in chronological order, so drawings are usually ready the night before or the morning of. I will happily accommodate any minor adjustments to your design when we meet for your appointment if something is not to your liking. It is my mission to not only meet your specifications and expectations, but go above and beyond them!
AGE/IDENTIFICATION:
California state law requires that you must be 18 years or older to get tattooed, NO EXCEPTIONS. Please bring a VALID (not expired) form of identification that is state or government issued (driver’s license, state id, passport, etc.) to your appointment that has a photograph of you as well as your name and date of birth on it. Failure to do so may result in a rescheduling and potential loss of deposit.
